Two years ago on a rainy October day in Seattle, AppSheet was launched. Our CEO, Praveen Seshadri knew he wanted to empower non-developers to create mobile apps all around the world. Over 100,000 users and 150 countries later, this vision has become a reality. The product has helped a wide range of customers: from non profits in some of the most remote places in the world to large enterprise customers looking for an innovative solution. AppSheet has evolved enormously in just two years. Let's take a look at how far we've come.
The Evolution of AppSheet
Believe it or not, this is what apps looked like in 2014. While some of the app functionality remains similar, we've made them much more robust and visually appealing.
Below you'll see two apps showing images in a gallery view. Can you guess which version is from 2014?
(Hint, hint: the new version features cleaner lines and a few additional buttons).
Below is the 2014 version of map views. See any differences?
Below is what maps views look like today. First, you'll see we migrated from Bing Maps to Google Maps. You'll also notice a difference in map icons and the ability to drop a pin to input an address.
Over the past two years, we've also added several views such as lists, forms, and dashboards. Below you'll see a side-by-side comparison of a 2015 and 2016 version of list views within AppSheet apps.
Notice the new look and feel of the list view above and the floating button for easier navigation.
Expressions are another core part of our product. With the expression builder we launched last year, we enabled people to build and test the expression they wanted to include in their apps without making any immediate changes or impact.

- Additional branding customization and color themes
- Workflow rules
- Deck view, Reverse ref and inline views
- Virtual columns
- New look and feel of the editor
- App version history
- Android whitelabel
Of course, this isn't all inclusive. Head over to our blog to read about the launches from 2016 thus far.
And just for kicks, take a look at our very first website. Both our website and branding have gotten major facelifts since launch.
Here's our shiny new website, launched earlier this year:
Wowza, right?! As you can see, we move fast and are not stopping anytime soon. We've gotten great feedback from users, and continue to shape product using this valuable information. While we're happy with our progress thus far, we hope to reach even more app creators, democratizing the mobile app building process along the way.
